If you’ve grown up in India, chances are that you would have undergone a powdered bath scrub ritual at some point in time or the other. Even more chances that it was a summer-holiday routine, during vacations spent at your grandmother’s home. Grandma would have handed over a bowl of this ubtan - mixed and powdered organic herbs, roots, seeds and oils, mixed with curd or milk to make a paste. It had an earthy scent. You had to use it on your body, like you would use soap. And wash it away the same way. You had no clue what was in it, or how it worked, but you knew that it made you look, feel and smell divine!
So how really does an ubtan or an organic bath powder work? Actually, it works at different levels.Mohini
